POSITION:                 Education and Fellowship Coordinator
 
 
REPORTS TO:          Director, Division of Education
 

 
SUMMARY:   The Education Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support for CME meetings and courses. The Education Coordinator also coordinates and supports AOSSM activities related to Graduate Medical Education including the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship Match, fellowship related communications, program support and related Society Committees.
 

 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Continuing Medical Education (CME) Support
 
Provide administrative support to the Director, Division of Education for all AOSSM courses and meetings, including:
 

  • Managing the on-line abstract submitter, including testing the functionality of the program, opening, closing it for submissions, preparing necessary reports and assisting individuals with questions and problems in abstract submissions
  • Assisting in the preparation of the scientific program
  • Communicating with faculty regarding speaking assignments, times, locations, and speaker expectations;
  • Following up in obtaining necessary speaker commitments, as well as ensuring collection of the necessary speaker release information
  • Assisting in the preparation of the self-study and other required information for ACCME re-accreditation;
  • Preparing weekly registration reports for the Annual Meeting;
  • Entering program data into iMIS;
  • Reviewing presentations to ensure compliance with ACCME disclosures requirements, copyright laws and HIPAA patient protection
  • Assisting with other tasks as necessary

 
Graduate Medical Education (GME) Support
 
Coordinate and support AOSSM’s activities supporting fellowship training in orthopaedic sports medicine, including:
 

  • Managing all aspects of the the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Match, including
    • Serving as the liaison with the SF Match to ensure smooth coordination of the Match;
    • Communicating with all qualified sports medicine and fellowship programs regarding the Match timelines and requirements;
    • Collecting Match agreements and fees from orthopaedicf fellowship programs;
    • Monitoring the information submitted by programs to the match to ensure compliance
    • Serving as a resource for fellowship programs regarding questions or concerns they have with the Match;
    • Developing reports and analyzing the data to ensure the integrity of the Match;
    • Communicating with the Match Committee (and programs) regarding changes to their program status;
    • Reporting to the Board and fellowship programs regarding the Match
    • Identifying and implementing strategies for ensuring the continued success of the Match;
  • Developing the Fellows page on the AOSSM web site, including identifying and/or developing materials for placing on the website;
  • Assisting in writing and developing content for the quarterly fellows newsletter;
  • Work with staff and program directors in identifying and developing educational programs/products of value to fellows and fellowship programs;
  • Soliciting and administering the Fellows Exam and distributing reports on comparative fellowship information in coordination with the Director of Distance Learning;
  • Providing staffing support for the Match Oversight Committee, Fellowship Committee and Program Director meetings at AOSSM Functions.

 
 
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
 

  • Proficiency with computers, computer software, and office technology, including Word, Excel, Access and member/relational databases.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with medical professionals.
  • Flexibility to manage and prioritize multiple projects with strict deadlines.
  • Strong customer service attitude.
  •  Limited travel of under 2 weeks per year.

 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in association management related to  continuing medical education
