Audience and Course Synopsis
This meeting is intended for professionals engaged in continuing medical education (CME). Funding for CME activities continues to be a challenge for CME providers. Traditionally, providers have relied upon organizational support, program revenues, and commercial support for funding CME activities. Budget constraints for providers, participants, and commercial supporters have challenged providers to develop new and innovative strategies for identifying new sources of funding for CME activities.

Objectives
At the completion of this program the participant will be able to:

1. Recognize the pressures faced by traditional commercial support sources of CME funding.

2. Cite the regulatory documents from the OIG and FDA that directly impact CME funding.

3. Compare and contrast the voluntary ethics codes promulgated by the pharmaceutical industry and the device manufacturing organizations.

4. Describe sources of funding for CME from the federal government and private sector.
